Hi, welcome to davemarsh3D.co.uk, a site designed to showcase my work, give me an excuse to be self-important and, above all, make my mum proud of me.
Here you will find examples of my 3D art work and, if all goes to plan, some tutorials and other 'useful' stuff.
I also have a selection of models available to buy online (hence the tiny, unobtrusive ad at the top of the page that you hardly noticed). As part of this shameless cash-in I am developing a 'feature library', which will allow the customer to build, preview and buy their own bespoke character.
With a first class (hons) degree in multimedia (yeah, yeah), I've always had an understanding of web design. My first job was as a web designer, it was only later that I moved into video games.
Recently I have rekindled my enthusiasm for developing online projects and relish the interactivity that comes with them. And, lets face it, more people are willing to pay for a web site than a 3D model of naked girl. Damn it.
These days everybody wants to be top of Google and we are all well aware of how your ranking can make or break a business. All my sites are designed to be completely search engine friendly and make visible, permanent progress up the rankings.
Back when I first began dabbling in 3D I was fascinated with the development of a photo-realistic human head. This fascination, nay obesession, remains with me today.
The challenge of fooling the human eye in believing that a 3D render is real is something that continues to inspire me. And humans are by far the hardest illusion of all. One day I'll nail it...
3D modeling is something I can lose days to as the perfectionist in me insists that every nostril, lobe and lid is not only anatomically precise but topologically perfect.
My interest in modelling the human form has lead me to develop a tool to allow the customer to create a unique 3D head of their own from a library of feature models. Click here for more information.
